SAN ANTONIO – After nearly 30 years, one of the city's earliest fire engines is back in the Alamo City.
The Witte Museum first loaned the steam-powered fire engine to the Houston Fire Museum in 1988.
The San Antonio Fire Museum and the Witte were able to organize a homecoming for the engine on Monday. The horse-drawn engine will be displayed in San Antonio's historic Fire Station No. 1.
An Ohio company built the engine for San Antonio back in 1892 and was in service until the 1920s.
The Witte Museum was able to fully restore the engine in the 1970s.
