SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man killed by a hit and run driver while changing a tire Saturday evening.

Cesar Lopez, 40, died when he was hit on southbound Interstate 35 near downtown at the Nogalitos exit.

Police said Lopez was hit by a blue pickup truck, possibly pulling a trailer.

They say the truck or the trailer likely has damage to the left side.

Police said they are still looking for the driver.

The investigation is ongoing.

A hit and run driver left a victim dead on Interstate 35 near downtown Saturday evening, and police say they're now on the hunt for that man.

The deadly crash happened just after 5:30 p.m. on southbound 35 near the Nogalitos  exit.

Police say the victim was outside his vehicle changing a tire when the man driving a blue pickup truck hit him and kept going.

They say a witness followed the hit and run driver for miles to Highway 16, but then lost sight of the suspect.

Police say they're now searching for the driver in a dark blue pickup pulling a trailer.

They say the truck or the trailer likely has damage to the left side.

Witnesses tell police the driver appeared to be an older man.

Investigators say EMS and firefighters performed CPR on the victim, but he died at the scene.

The dead man's name has not yet been released.
