SAN ANTONIO – Educators in Judson ISD will receive a 2 percent pay raise which will be reflected on their September paychecks, according to a statement from the district.

The Judson ISD board approved the raises, totaling $3.9 million, during a regular board meeting Thursday. The increase will come from the district's fund balance.

"The Judson ISD Board wanted to provide pay raises during the budget process back in June, but waited to survey the budgetary landscape after the Texas Legislature’s Special Session concluded before making its final decision," Judson ISD said in a statement.

The starting salary for educators with no experience will be $51,050. Additionally, teachers with the district will receive a one time employee retention incentive of $625.

Teachers will receive the retention incentive in December. The incentive was passed by trustees in 2016, but the amount will be factored into the district's most recent budget.

Judson ISD has over a dozen open teacher positions listed on its website.
