KSAT partners with Nextdoor to provide neighborhood news, weather and more

Engage, share your voice with KSAT 12 news via Nextdoor

SAN ANTONIO – KSAT 12 is excited to announce we have joined Nextdoor as its first TV news partner in San Antonio.

For the past six years, over 1,130 San Antonio neighborhoods have been connecting on Nextdoor, the popular social network for neighborhoods that helps neighbors do everything from find a local babysitter to catch a thief.

With News on Nextdoor, KSAT will be able to engage the community in the stories we work on. While we will not be able to see the neighborhood conversation, KSAT will be able to share stories, ask open-ended questions, and post Nextdoor Polls to assess the community's feelings on a particular topic.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office partnered with Nextdoor, as well, to provide communities with live crime alerts.

To share your voice with KSAT and participate in our polls, sign up for Nextdoor at www.nextdoor.com/ksat.

Residents will automatically see posts from KSAT in their Nextdoor newsfeed.

Nextdoor launched nationwide in October 2011, and has launched more than 155,000 neighborhood websites across all 50 states, representing nearly 80 percent of U.S. neighborhoods.

Nextdoor is a free online platform that enables neighbors to create private social networks for their neighborhood.

Using Nextdoor, neighbors can communicate with each other to build stronger and safer neighborhoods.

Each neighborhood creates a private Nextdoor website that is accessible only to the residents of that neighborhood.

Topics of discussion on Nextdoor are as varied as local events, school activities, plumber and babysitter recommendations, recent crime activity, upcoming garage sales or even lost pets.

Every neighbor must verify their home address to ensure that they do in fact live in that neighborhood.
