Late-night chimney fire damages home in Windcrest

Fire occurred just before 11 p.m. in 8000 block of Hickory Forest

WINDCREST, Texas – A large chimney fire damaged a home in Windcrest late Monday night, fire officials said.

The fire was reported just before 11 p.m. at the home in the 8000 block of Hickory Forest, which is located not far from Walzem Road on the city's Northeast Side.

Firefighters said when they arrived they found flames coming from the roof. The one person inside the residence made it out safely.

Firefighters said the fire was put out quickly. A damage estimate was not given. No one was hurt in the fire.

The Windcrest Fire Department, the Live Oak Fire Department, the Bexar County Fire Department an the Gardendale Fire Department all responded to the call.
