LEON VALLEY, Texas – Leon Valley residents could be seeing a discount in flood insurance rates.
The city of Leon Valley has received a community rating system classification of seven from the insurance services office and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. That means residents and business owners can now enjoy a 15 percent discount in flood insurance premiums if they are in the special flood-hazard areas.

Those outside the areas will still receive a 5 percent discount.
The community rating system flood insurance program rewards communities for implementing programs and policies that protect their residents from flooding.
Leon Valley and Live Oak are the only community rating system communities in Bexar County right now.
Both communities are class seven.
