Man, 24, fatally shot by ex after breaking into her home, San Antonio police say

SAN ANTONIO – A 33-year-old woman opened fire on her ex-boyfriend moments after he broke into her home Wednesday night, San Antonio police said.

The man, identified as Javier Manuel Plata, 24, died following the shooting at the home in the 10300 block of Lynx Crossing, according to police.

According to police, the woman was in the bathroom when she heard the Plata walking up the stairs and went to grab her shotgun. Moments later, she opened fire on her ex as he entered the bathroom.

Plata was transported to University Hospital, where he later died.

Police said that the woman had changed the locks to her home and that Plata had been texting her all day.

Before the shooting, he was waiting for her when she arrived at her home. She told him to leave and he complied, police said.

Plata allegedly returned, forced a window open and entered the home as the woman was in the bathroom.

No one else was in the home.

The woman is not expected to face charges, police said.
