Man ambushed while leaving South Side convenience store

Victim was shot in face, police say

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are trying to track down a gunman who ambushed a 41-year-old man as he left a South Side convenience store late Monday night.

The victim was shot in the face, shortly after 11:30 p.m.

Police say they found several witnesses to the crime in the 3100 block of Commercial Avenue.

They say a man got out of the passenger’s seat of a white Volkswagen Jetta, walked up to the victim as he left the Shop and Go store and pulled the trigger.

The victim was in critical condition as he was rushed to a hospital by ambulance, police said.

The shooter got back into the car and got away.

Police say witnesses gave them the name of the shooter as well as some locations where they might find him.

However, as of early Tuesday morning, it appeared they had not made any arrests yet.
