SAN ANTONIO – A man is in the hospital recovering from an ambush-style shooting outside a South Side convenience store.

San Antonio police say witnesses told them they saw a white Volkswagen Jetta pull into the parking lot and park.

They say as soon as the 41-year-old stepped out of the store, someone got out of the passenger’s side of the car and shot him in the face.

The victim was rushed to a hospital and, at last check, was stable.

Witnesses were able to identify the shooter for officers and even gave them a possible location where he might be.

Police searched that area but came up empty-handed.

They still don’t know the reason for the shooting.
