SAN ANTONIOUpdate: The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in New Braunfels have reopened as of 2:30 p.m. Traffic is slowly moving in the area, according to police.

Original: The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 in New Braunfels are closed Friday afternoon after a concrete mixer tipped over, spilling its contents across the road.

City of New Braunfels spokesman David Ferguson said a truck hauling a trailer with a concrete mixer on it was involved in an accident around 1 p.m.

The trailer tipped over and spilled concrete mix and fluid from the mixer all over the highway. No one was injured in the accident.

The lanes are closed at Walnut so crews can clean up the mess.

At 1:35 p.m., police said the road will be closed for at least another hour.

“Traffic patterns throughout the city are also affected so please drive carefully,” police said in a Facebook post. “Your patience is appreciated.”
