The shooting happened after 4 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of Aurelia Street.
Officers who responded to the call say they found the man still at the home, where he apparently had been staying for some time.
They say the woman, the suspect in the shooting, had taken off already, walking away from the area.
Officers did a search of the neighborhood and quickly found her a few blocks away, then took her into custody.
A preliminary report says that others in the home heard the two arguing just before the woman allegedly fired a single shot from a handgun.
The victim was taken to a hospital by ambulance with what police say was a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Investigators spent about an hour collecting evidence at the home.
Police were not able to say right away what specifically led to the shooting. However, they said it appeared to be related to a domestic incident.
