Mother, daughter safely escape NE Side house fire; flames contained to bedroom, SAFD says

Fire was called in just after 6 a.m. in 4100 block of Moana Drive

SAN ANTONIO – A mother and daughter were unharmed following a house fire on the city’s Northeast Side early Wednesday morning, the San Antonio Fire Department said.

The fire was called in just after 6 a.m. at a home in the 4100 block of Moana Drive, not far from Interstate 35 and Loop 410.

Firefighters said when they arrived, they found flames inside the master bedroom.

The mother had woken up to the smell of smoke coming from the bathroom. She was able to get her and her daughter out of the house safely, fire officials said.

The fire department arrived fast enough to keep the fire contained to the master bedroom. No injuries were reported.

A fire investigation team will now work to determine the exact cause.

A damage estimate to the home was not given.
