Confrontation leads to gunfire inside South Side apartment; woman grazed in foot, police say

Incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in 2800 block of West Hutchins Place

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are investigating after gunshots were fired inside a South Side apartment late Wednesday night.

Officers were called around 10:30 p.m. to the Rio Springs Apartments in the 2800 block of West Hutchins Place, not far from Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Loop 410 after receiving word of a shooting.

According to police, a mother went to check on her daughter at her boyfriend’s apartment. That’s when, police say, a confrontation happened and a relative of the boyfriend fired gunshots into the floor.

Police said the mother was grazed in the foot by either shrapnel or a bullet. She was checked out by emergency crews and released.

SAPD then got everyone out of the apartment, including the shooter. No arrests have been made.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
