The driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old New Braunfels man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 3-year-old passenger in the sedan suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a San Antonio hospital.

Police said the driver of the pickup truck, identified as Rafael Alejandro Arreguin-Ramirez, 25, of Mexico, showed signs of intoxication at the scene. He was taken to a New Braunfels hospital for a “blood search warrant” before being taken to the Guadalupe County Jail.

A passenger in the pickup truck, Alejandro Aguillen Acosta, 23, of Mexico, fled the scene on foot into a nearby neighborhood after the crash, according to police.
