SAN ANTONIO – A man wanted in connection with two separate sexual assault cases on San Antonio’s North Side left behind a key piece of evidence near one crime scene.
A police report indicates that San Antonio Police Department investigators found a red jacket in the bushes while canvassing an apartment complex on Cross Canyon not far from Bitters Road in May.
The detectives were looking for clues related to a reported attack on a 24-year-old woman outside a gym across from the complex.
The report states the woman told police a man approached her as she sat in her car in the parking lot.
She said she opened her door to speak with him, then he stood between her car and door, preventing her from closing it.
The woman told police the man tried to kiss her, then fondled her before running away.
Police obtained video from the apartment complex across the street showing the man, who they’ve identified as the suspect.
The report said cameras captured the suspect at certain points wearing the red jacket, which they later found in the bushes.
The May attack became the subject of a Crime Stoppers appeal last week.
On Friday, police released additional info, saying the same man is now also a suspect in an attack on a 16-year-old girl.
A preliminary report states the teen told police the attack happened in an elevator at an apartment building on Alametos Street, not far from San Pedro Avenue and Fresno Street.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867 (STOP).
