Police say officers watched the vehicle and later saw Kendra Bridges leave the motel, get inside the pickup and drive away. Investigators followed her to a home, where officers took her into custody.
According to the report, Bridges told investigators someone had given her a “code” to take the vehicle. She also said she needed a way to get home to Corpus Christi.
Officers say surveillance video showed Bridges using a hook to get inside the business and reach the vehicle’s keys. The truck was recovered and turned over to U-Haul. Police also confiscated the hook as evidence.
Bridges was booked on a felony charge of theft of a vehicle valued between $30,000 and $150,000.
