Actor Danny Trejo discusses addiction recovery, border issues, riding buffalo in new movie

Trejo was in San Antonio for keynote speech at Alpha Home luncheon fundraiser

SAN ANTONIO – Actor Danny Trejo visited San Antonio on Thursday to talk about his journey of recovery from alcohol and drug addiction.

Trejo, best known for his roles in “Machete” and “Desperado,” was the keynote speaker at Alpha Home’s 11th Annual Doorways of Hope luncheon fundraiser.

Before the speech, Trejo spoke with KSAT.com digital reporters RJ Marquez and Adrian Garcia.  

He shared stories about his battle with addiction and his time in jail. He also discussed border issues and immigration.

Trejo joked about being a dad and his upcoming projects which include a film in San Antonio and another movie where he rode a live buffalo.

Trejo is now 48 years sober and has developed a successful career in the entertainment industry. Check out the interview clips below.
