Man killed in Mexico while scouting location for 'Narcos'

SAN ANTONIO – Carlos Muñoz Portal, the location scout for the hit Netflix series “Narcos” was shot and killed in Mexico on Sunday.

Portal was in Mexico scouting locations for the fourth season of “Narcos” when he was killed.

“Muñoz’s bullet-riddled body and car were found in a remote area near San Bartolo Actopan in the state of Mexico near the borders of Hidalgo state, which is said to have one of the highest murder rates in Mexico,” reported Variety.com.

Authorities are still investigating Portal’s death.

“Narcos” is said to be heading from Colombia to Mexico for season 4, which is why Portal was there.

Portal was well-known as a location scout, with movies like “Sicario,” Spectre,” “The Fast and the Furious” and Mel Gibson’s “Apocalypto” on his resume.
