SAN ANTONIO – Ernest Tafolla, 59, is accused of shooting another man in the eye with an air rifle during an argument, causing injuries that led to his death.
An arrest warrant affidavit said the incident was reported on June 14. The 53-year-old victim died July 4.
The affidavit said Tafolla and two other people took the injured man to a fire station, seeking help for him. The man suffered an injury to his eye and was unresponsive, the affidavit said.
San Antonio police said they questioned Tafolla about what led to the man's injuries and he, initially said he shot him accidentally with an air rifle. The affidavit said Tafolla admitted later that he and the victim had gotten into an argument while moving items around in his garage in the 800 block of Vanderbilt Street.
Police said a witness also told them that Tafolla fired the air rifle at the man in anger. The affidavit said the victim was hit in the eye but died of a head injury related to the shooting.
Tafolla was arrested Tuesday on a charge of manslaughter.
