Man arrested after posting video showing how to remove ankle monitor

Greene County Sheriff's Office

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Dustin Burns, 33, posted a video to Facebook in July showing how to remove an ankle monitor with a butter knife and a screwdriver.

Burns was on probation for violating a restraining order when he posted the video, which authorities believe shows Burns removing his own monitor even though you can’t see the man’s face, according to the Springfield News-Leader.

Several other videos were posted to Burns’ Facebook account following the ankle monitor video.

They show Burns walking through a large marijuana farm and referencing trips to other states, such as Utah, Idaho and Oregon.

Burns is based in Missouri, and online jail records show he’s been in the Greene County Jail in Springfield since Aug. 28, according to the Springfield News-Leader.
