Man arrested in October apartment slaying on East Side

Michael Enoch, 32, charged in murder of Darrel Gentry Jr.

SAN ANTONIO – A man sought in the slaying of another man at an East Side apartment complex last October is now behind bars.

Michael Enoch, 32, is accused of fatally shooting 29-year-old Darrel Gentry Jr.

The victim's girlfriend originally told police they were arguing when a stranger came up and shot Gentry, but it turns out the suspect apparently lived in the same apartment complex the crime happened.

An arrest affidavit states Tomisha Tomlin and Gentry were arguing about who her daughter was dating, the suspect's girlfriend's son, prior to the shooting.

Witnesses told police they saw Enoch walk up, pull a gun and fire. Gentry was struck once in the chest with a bullet and died in the parking lot of the Rosemont at Highland Park Apartments in the 1300 block of Rigsby Avenue.

Investigators say Enoch took off after the shooting; however, several witnesses and a Crime Stoppers tip identified Enoch as the suspect and he's now charged with murder.

The arrest affidavit doesn't state what took so long for officers to find Enoch.

He was identified as the shooting suspect shortly afterwards and a warrant was issues for his arrest within two weeks of the murder.
