23-year-old shot, killed at house party had just graduated from college

HOUSTON – A shooting at a house party left a 23-year-old man dead.

The shooting happened in the 14000 block of Waterside View Court in Houston, police said.

The victim, Cole Harrell, had just graduated from Tulsa Welding College, Harrell's older brother Corbin told KSAT 12's sister station in Houston, KPRC.

Corbin said his brother Cole previously played football at Huffman-Hargrave High School.

Authorities said four people got into an argument inside the home and the argument escalated into a brawl, which spilled outside. Someone pulled out a gun during the brawl and the gun went off.

It's unclear whether the gun was intentionally fired or whether Cole was the intended target, but police said Cole was shot and found dead outside.

Houston police said the alleged gunman left the scene after the shooting but later returned and turned himself into police.

All individuals involved in the brawl were taken downtown for questioning Sunday morning.

Investigators said guns were recovered from the scene and they are working to determine if those firearms were used in the shooting.

Detectives at scene are working to learn more information about this incident.
