Driver ignores barricades, gets hit by train

Man not injured, may face charges

SAN ANTONIO – Authorities are looking into what charges a driver might face after he ignored barricades and was hit by a train.

Police said there were barricades blocking the tracks near the intersection of Florida Street and Hoefgen Avenue because of previous reports of vehicles getting stuck on the tracks.

Investigators said a driver passed through those barricades around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. He was struck by an oncoming train. The vehicle was pushed about 50 feet before the conductor was able to stop. The vehicle ended up being thrown into a building, police said.

The driver was checked out by emergency medical services personnel but is okay. Union Pacific police are looking into charging the man.
