Man killed trying to cross Loop 410

Victim identified as Michael Ray Cook, 46

SAN ANTONIO – A 46-year-old man trying to cross a busy highway was hit and killed on Monday night.

San Antonio police said the man, identified as Michael Ray Cook, must have just started to cross the highway when he was hit on the lanes exiting Loop 410 to Bandera Road.

Police were called to the scene around 7:15 p.m. When officers arrived they found Cook on the highway.
Police said he was hit by a man driving a red Nissan truck, but that the driver will not face charges because he stopped to try and help the victim.

"He was carrying fast food with him," said Sgt. Arthur Casas of the San Antonio Police Department. "It looked like it came from Burger King so, we're thinking that he was probably just leaving the restaurant and trying to cross to the hotel across the highway."
