Barraza shot Arocha six times on July 20, 2013, after they got into an argument at a party on Weir Avenue on the city's West Side, the Bexar County District Attorney's Office said.

The defendant was on the run for nearly three years until he was arrested in Mexico.

After the sentencing, Arocha's father addressed Barraza during a victim impact statement and told the defendant how life without his son will never be the same and that he will never move on from this.

Barraza could have been sentenced to a maximum of life in prison for the murder conviction.
