Man shot on South Side suspected of breaking into cars, police say

Shooter last seen running toward River Bend Apartments

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are trying to find the person who shot and wounded a man near a South Side apartment complex.

Officers at the scene said they found the 32-year-old man inside the River Bend apartment complex in the 8200 block of S. Flores. He had been shot in the stomach and foot, and his injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

Police quickly began searching the area, both on the ground and from a helicopter, looking for the shooter. However, the person managed to get away.

Officials said the shooter was last seen running into the apartment complex.

Outside the gates on Fournier Street investigators located about a half dozen shell casings and other evidence.

They said it appears that is where the shooting happened with the wounded man making his way onto the apartment complex property.

Witnesses reportedly told police that the man who was shot was suspected of breaking into cars in the parking lot.

Police said although there had been a party on the property earlier, they're not sure if it had anything to do with the reason for the shooting.
