Man shot while trying to run away from 3 men

Victim shot 3 times in front yard of home on West Mally Boulevard, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – A 25-year-old man was shot in the front yard of his home Thursday morning on the city's South Side.

Police said the man suffered three gunshot wounds, including two to his back and one in his arm. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Three men dressed in black ordered the victim to the ground around 6 a.m. in the 900 block of West Mally Boulevard, police said. The man was shot when he tried to run away.

A neighbor said she heard gunshots. She also said the victim has three children.

Jesus Salas said the victim and his family are good people and that he hasn't seen anything like Thursday's shooting in his 20 years living on the block.

"We're neighbours, you know, and we take care of each other," Salas said. "I didn't hear (anything) this morning."

Police said the motive may be robbery, but the men didn't demand anything from the victim.
