Man stabbed in stomach outside NE Side bar

Victim taken to SAMMC in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO – An argument outside a Northeast Side bar turned violent when a man was stabbed in the stomach.

San Antonio police said the stabbing happened around 11 p.m. in the 4200 block of Sun Gate Street off Perrin Beitel Road near an apartment complex.

The victim was stabbed and transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition.

The sound of sirens caught the attention of neighbors.

"I saw one cop car longways on the street and then two cops walking back and forth talking. They had the bridge completely sectioned off," said Bryan Lindholn.

He was among several neighbors who said they were not shocked to hear about the stabbing.

"Coming from the strip club right here, and being so close to a neighborhood, it's the Northeast Side. It's not really surprising at all," Lindholn said.

He said he tries to keep out of trouble and keep his young niece safe by keeping to himself.

"We're getting to the point we don't let them outside much anymore. They have to be by our side 24-7 going to and from school," he said.

San Antonio police interviewed two witnesses who said the victim got into an argument with two men before the stabbing. Police did not say what caused the argument.

They fled in a red Pontiac, going south on Perrin Beitel toward Loop 410, police said.
