SAN ANTONIO - A 24-year-old man was arrested after police said he repeatedly stabbed his sister's boyfriend with a screwdriver while he was sleeping.
A relative of Nathan Suttles told police she allowed him to stay at her Southeast Side apartment for only one night because he had nowhere else to go.
On Oct. 1 around 4:25 a.m., the victim was sleeping at the apartment when he woke up to Suttles stabbing him with a screwdriver, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim told police Suttles took off when he yelled for help, the affidavit said.
Relatives who live at the apartment said they found the victim suffering from puncture wounds to his hands and the back of his head.
Suttles was taken into custody Tuesday and now faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a second-degree felony. His bond has been set at $75,000.
According to online records, Suttles was previously convicted on charges of terroristic threat and criminal trespassing.
Suttles was also arrested in October 2014 for assault causing bodily injury, but the case was later dismissed due to a missing witness.
