Local Marine Corps veteran reunited with military K-9

SAN ANTONIO – A local Marine Corps veteran and his military K-9 were reunited Tuesday at Cavender Toyota on the Northwest Side.

Marine Cpl. Aaron Stice spent three years protecting fellow troops with his military working dog, Kheaton, by his side. After seven months apart, Kheaton is retiring.

Kheaton was brought from Camp Pendleton in California to San Antonio, where he will spend his retirement with the Stice family.

"He was a problem dog, had some behavior issues. He was aggressive," Stice said. "You can see now he's not what he used to be. A lot of love and training went into him to get him where he's at. Glad to have him back."

Tuesday's reunion was organized by American Humane, an organization dedicated to reuniting retired military dogs with their former handlers.
