U.S. Air Force grounding all C-5 aircraft until repairs made

433rd Airlift Wing at JBSA-Lackland has 8 C-5M Super Galaxy Aircraft

SAN ANTONIO – The U.S. Air Force is grounding all C-5 aircraft until they're repaired.

The 433rd Airlift Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland has eight C-5M Super Galaxy Aircraft.

The problem is with the ball screw assembly parts on the landing gear.

The Air Force air mobility commander said in a statement that it's important to reduce stress on an aging fleet of aircraft and that the safety and readiness of airmen and aircraft is their top priority.
