Motorcyclist killed in crash on West Side

Man, 20, was speeding prior to fatality, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A 20-year-old man was killed Tuesday in a motorcycle crash on the city's West Side.

Police said Mathew Cardenas was speeding and driving recklessly on his motorcycle around 8:40 a.m. when a pickup truck turned into a driveway in the 700 block of South General McMullen.

The motorcycle hit the passenger side of the pickup, police said.

Cardenas, who police said was not wearing a helmet, was taken to University Hospital, where he died.

The driver of the pickup was transported to University Hospital in stable condition.

No charges will be filed against the driver of the pickup.
