New Alamo license plates available for Texans

Money from each purchase to go toward Alamo preservation

AUSTIN, Texas – New Alamo license plates will be available for all Texans, Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush and Texas State Representative Lyle Larson announced Thursday.

For each Alamo license plate sold, $22 will go directly to the Alamo to pay for preservation efforts and historical education programs.

"The creation of this new license plate coincides with a new and exciting chapter in the Alamo’s history as we continue to make great strides in the historic master plan process," Bush said. "I commend Rep. Larson, who wrote the legislation that has made this specialty plate a reality.

"Not only will this license plate enable Texans across the state to show their pride for the Alamo, the shrine of Texas liberty, but it will also provide valuable funds for continuing preservation work and valuable educational resources so that we can continue to teach visitors about the historic events that occurred on this sacred site."

"There are a lot of folks who take pride in Texas’ heritage, and the Alamo is the cradle of Texas independence," Larson said. "This will give folks the opportunity to embrace that concept when they purchase their license plates and support the restoration of the Alamo for future generations."

The license plate was designed by the Texas General Land Office in coordination with Larson and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.
