Officer reflects on D.C., Trump's inauguration

45 SAPD gathered for a celebratory lunch for working at inauguration

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police officers who traveled to Washington D.C. for President Trump’s inauguration had a celebratory lunch Friday afternoon at Tip Top Cafe.

The 45 officers were deputized members of the D.C. police force two weeks ago.

Kevin Whisehunt, one of these officers, said the trip was his first time in Washington. One of his favorite moments was getting to see President Obama being flown in a helicopter from the Capitol to the White House. He said he had seen the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier growing up, but never imagined he would get to watch it in person.

Officer Whisenhunt said he recommends everyone visit D.C. at least once. He advises you to bring your walking shoes, because there is a lot to see.
