LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized 26 pounds of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $518,521 during one enforcement action this past weekend, the department said.
A vehicle crossing the Laredo Port of Entry was pulled for a secondary examination involving a canine and physical inspection from CBP officers.

CBP said that’s when officers discovered 33 packages of crystal meth in a 2014 Dodge Journey driven by a 39-year-old female U.S. citizen of Pflugerville, Texas, on Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Juarez-Lincoln International Bridge.
“This seizure was an excellent interception made by our CBP officers,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry.

“I congratulate the officers for demonstrating the highest standard of vigilance by disrupting the flow of illicit narcotics into our country,” Alvarez said.
CBP said the driver was arrested and the narcotics and vehicle seized.

The case is turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation, the department said.
