Overloaded outlet causes mobile home fire on NE Side

Fire started just before 3 a.m. in 7300 block of Harlow Dr

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters responded to a fire at a mobile home early Monday morning.

The fire started just before 3 a.m. in the 7300 block of Harlow Drive, found near Eisenhower Road on the city's far Northeast Side.

Firefighters said the woman inside the home told them that she smelled something first and then heard a loud crash. The woman only then noticed the fire, firefighters said, before she and husband escaped.

Firefighters said the woman originally dialed 311 instead of 911, but a neighbor was able to call the fire department.

Officials said the fire was caused by an overloaded outlet as everything inside the home was plugged into the same one.

No one was hurt by the fire.

The amount of damage is not presently known. The investigation is ongoing.
