Overnight fire displaces families at SW Side apartment complex

Arson investigators looking for cause of fire

SAN ANTONIO – Several families have been displaced by an overnight fire at a Southwest Side apartment complex.

San Antonio firefighters responded to a 911 call around 12:20 a.m. Wednesday and found the fire had spread through the walls from a lower floor to the third floor of one building.

Everyone in the building at the Rio Springs apartment complex evacuated. No injuries were reported, officials said.

As of daybreak, it appeared the building still had no electricity. Some damage was visible on the balcony of one unit.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to put out the fire. Afterwards, they called in arson investigators to determine what caused it.
