Park-goers on high alert after rapist targets victim at Hardberger Park

No arrests made yet

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police continue the search for a suspected rapist who targeted a victim at Hardberger Park in north San Antonio. It’s been more than a week since the sexual assault, and no arrests have been announced.

Women walking the secluded trail where the alleged incident occurred say they are always on alert.

Kayla Bourgeois had a pocket knife she uses to protect herself.

“I usually don’t go to a park by myself. I usually have someone with me just because of that,” she said.

There were 17 calls for service to the 13000 block of Blanco Road the week leading up to the attack. There have been 27 since then.

Many walkers said they had seen an increase in police activity.

Mary Green and her friend walk the park daily. They never expected something like this to happen at the popular park. They said they will not be scared away.

“It could happen anywhere. I mean, it happens in gated communities. You never know,” Green said.

Police have not released any further information on the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867.
