SAN ANTONIO - Two people were wounded in a shooting and vehicle chase early Friday in Converse, police said.

The shooting was reported around 1 a.m. in the 9800 block of Twin Saddles, where officers arrived at the scene to find the victims.

Police said the victims were sitting in their vehicle in front of their house when someone in a silver sedan slowly rolled past them and opened fire.

The victims drove away from their home and were shot before crashing into a nearby yard, police said. The men ran to the nearest home looking for help.

"I heard someone banging on my door with a hammer," said Alonso Carabeo, who lives in the neighborhood. "That's kind of scary because that kind of stuff doesn't happen here. We lived here over a yea, and it's never happened before."

The victims were both transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center for their injuries.

The car fled the scene and no arrests have been made.
