SAN ANTONIO - One of three men wanted for the stabbing of a 34-year-old man is behind bars as reward money remains for information that leads to the arrest of the other two men involved.
An arrest affidavit said 30-year-old David Ortiz is believed to have pistol-whipped Rolando Pantoja out of anger because Pantoja hit one of the other suspects with a car earlier last year.
Ortiz was arrested Thursday afternoon and is charged with first-degree murder for Pantoja’s death. His bond is set at $100,000.
The affidavit said that after hitting Pantoja with a gun, Ortiz then went to his vehicle and returned with a knife and began stabbing the victim.
The stabbing happened on the night of Aug. 30 in the 1400 block of Colima. Pantoja got out of his car and was stabbed by a second suspect before he died.
Authorities said Ortiz then called another man, and the three of them dumped Pantoja’s body in the 10000 block of Quintana Road, where it was discovered later in the morning.
The two other suspects, 52-year-old Ignacio Jimenez and 32-year-old Robert Casarez, remain at large. Jimenez is named on the affidavit as the second person who stabbed Pantoja.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 210-224-7867. Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the suspects’ arrests.
