Police hope North Side home holds clues to couple's deaths

Husband, wife possibly stabbed, police say

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police investigators hope a North Side home might hold clues into the deaths of a husband and wife who lived there.

Police Chief William McManus said officers responded to a call around 8 a.m. Thursday from a relative  and found the couple, who were both in their 30s, on the first floor of their townhome in the 1800 block of Budding Boulevard.

"It appears they've been stabbed and/or cut, but there's no weapon that we can find right now," McManus said. "We're not sure at this point exactly what happened, whether it's a murder-suicide or murder. We just don't know."

Investigators waited more than an hour for a search warrant to arrive before they entered the home and searched for the weapon and other evidence.

McManus said the couple's teenage son found them.

"The child goes to school this morning, and for some reason or another, comes back home and he finds his mother and his father deceased," he said.

The son has special needs, so investigators have had some difficulty getting information from him, McManus said.

"It's just a real shame. I'm glad the son is OK, though," said Anna Marie Lopez, who watched the scene unfold from her doorstep.

Lopez said most people in the neighborhood tend to keep to themselves, so she didn't know the man and woman well.

She realized that something was wrong when she heard sirens.

"Then I saw all the police cars," Lopez said. "And everybody was, like, 'What's going on? What's going on?'"

The names of the victims weren't immediately released.
