Police: Officers find dead woman covered in dog bites during welfare check

Welfare check prompted by missed dog training classes

HOUSTON – Houston police on Friday discovered a woman who appeared to have suffered several dog bites dead in her backyard, police told KSAT's sister station, KPRC 2. 

Officers conducted a welfare check on the 66-year-old woman after she failed to show up for two days of dog training classes, the Houston TV station reported. Two Doberman pinschers were found in the home, KPRC 2 reported.

Houston police told KPRC 2 the woman had several dog bites on her arms, hand and face. Police, however, did not say whether the dogs found at the woman's home were responsible for the several bite marks on the woman's body.

Police also did not say whether the woman died from a dog attack. An autopsy is underway, according to KPRC 2. 

The woman has not yet been identified.
