3 people sought by police after rollover crash, chase on SE Side

1 teenage girl in custody

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have a teenage girl in custody and are searching for up to three other people after a rollover crash involving a stolen pickup truck on the city's Southeast side.

Officers responded to the 4200 block of East Southcross Boulevard after 8:30 a.m. and found the pickup on its roof in the middle of the traffic lanes. On the ground nearby was a live power line and utility pole that were knocked down in the crash.

San Antonio police Sgt. Mario Ramirez said officers quickly found that the people who had been inside the truck were no longer there.

"We were advised by witnesses that they fled on foot, with one of them possibly injured," Ramirez said.

The witnesses pointed police officers in the direction of the group, and they caught a teenage girl down the road near Loop 410.

Officers chased the other suspects, "through some properties and onto school property and across the highway into some dense brush and a wooded area," Ramirez said.

With the help of a helicopter, the officers searched the rough terrain for three others, but they got away, police said.

"It's very dense brush; creek bed. As far as I know, there may be a ranch in that area too," Ramirez said.

He said information from the teenager led them to a home in a nearby neighborhood, but no one was there.
