Police: Woman wakes, confronts armed robber inside home

Incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. in 4000 block of Sunrise Creek Dr

SAN ANTONIOb – A woman is recovering after she confronted a man who broke into her home and robbed her at gunpoint overnight, San Antonio police said Monday.

The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of Sunrise Creek Drive, found on the city's Northeast Side.

Police said the woman woke to hear a man rummaging through her things in another room. That's when police said, the woman confronted the man along with her pitbull, only to have a gun pointed at her.

Police said the woman was uninjured when she struggled with the suspect and the gun was fired, having managed to grab the gun before it went off. The suspect however then made the woman move a television set from inside the house to the front yard after she failed to take possession of the gun.

Upon realizing that the TV was too large to take on his own, the suspect then fled from the scene on foot with a pillowcase full of items, police said.

The woman was not hurt in the incident.

The investigation into the robbery is ongoing.

A description of the suspect has yet to be released.
