Green said he is calling for Trump’s impeachment for obstruction of justice, stemming from the firing of James Comey as FBI director.
Comey was in charge of the investigation into whether members of Trump’s campaign conspired with Russia and possibly interfered with the 2017 presidential election.
Trump said he fired Comey based on his investigation in the now-infamous Hillary Clinton email server fiasco.
Green accused Trump of firing Comey for his investigation into the president’s potential political ties to Russia and trying to cover up the firing by blaming Comey for botching Clinton’s investigation.
“Mister Speaker, we cannot allow this to go unchecked. The president is not above the law,” Green said in his address to Congress.
