SAN ANTONIO - There are new developments in the battle over boundaries playing out in San Antonio's federal court.

Saturday wrapped up about a week of hearings focused on the way Texas congressional maps are drawn.

A verdict is now expected to come before the 2018 election cycle.

The arguments center around maps drawn in 2013. Plaintiffs say lawmakers drew up districts that are unfair to minorities.

Lawyers for the state argue they did not intentionally discriminate against minority voters.

League of United Latin American Citizens attorney Luis Vera expects to hear a ruling made by early October.

A three-judge panel is overseeing the case. One of those judges is also overseeing the lawsuit against the sanctuary cities law.
