Project QUEST receives $20K grant to support nursing students

John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation makes large donation

SAN ANTONIO – Project QUEST, a company that helps to train people and provide them with support and resources to achieve long term employment, received a $20,000 grant this week from the John L. Santikos Charitable Foundation of the San Antonio Area Foundation.

The grant will enable the organization to pay for the licensing fees of 100 nursing participants.

“We are thankful to the Santikos Charitable Foundation and the San Antonio Area Foundation for investing in San Antonio’s future by helping us contribute to the workforce in the health care and bioscience industry, one of the city’s largest industries," Sister Peark Ceasar, CP, the executive director, said. "Our mission to strengthen the economy with highly qualified employees would not be possible without community support. We are proud to have been selected as a recipient of the grant."

QUEST is moving into its 25th year in existence. The company said its mission is to strengthen San Antonio's economy by offering supportive services for those pursuing career tracks in the city's fastest-growing industries.

The company said the average QUEST participant in 2015-2016 entered into the program with a  starting salary of $11,024, increasing to an average of $42,185 at the end of the program -- a @82 percent increase in wages on average.

The San Antonio Area Foundation helps donors achieve their charitable goals. It manages more than 500 charitable funds and $900 million in assets. Since 1964, $305 million for scholarships and grants have been awarded to nonprofits that educate youth, preserve the environment, protects animals and funds research.
