Road closures, race times: What you need to know about the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

SAN ANTONIO – Thousands of runners from across the globe will fill the streets of downtown this weekend to compete in the 10th annual Humana Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and half marathon. 

With the race comes dozens of road closures and delays on Saturday and Sunday.

Here's what you need to know before the race:

Most road closures begin to take effect Saturday morning

A release from race coordinators states most road closures will take effect by 7 a.m. and the 10K and 5K will start at 7:30 a.m. The release states most roads will be reopened by 10:30 a.m. that day. The roads will begin once again on Sunday at 6:30 a.m. for the half marathon and 5K but they will be reopened at 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

How many runners are expected?

Event organizers say more than 26,000 runners from all 50 states and 21 countries have signed up to participate.

Can I still participate?

The online registration window has closed. According to the website, registration for the Marathon, Half Marathon and 2-Person Half Marathon Relay will be available at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, Dec. 1 and Saturday, Dec. 2. There will be NO race day registration available.

Registration for the 10K, 5K and KiDS ROCK events will be available at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, Dec. 1 and near the start line at the packet pickup tent on Saturday, Dec. 2.
