The nearly two-minute video shows SAFD firefighters training in a gymnasium taking part in a workout session that Deem was known to be passionate about before his death.

Ten seconds into the video, a handwritten statement is presented on a white board saying, "Today, as the Buzzer Sounds just like the tone would for a regular. Go Hard, harder than you’ve ever gone before! Don’t worry about the weight, don’t worry about the rounds, don’t worry about the reps, just go!”

The powerful statement goes on to highlight Deem’s passion for training and working out to stay in shape by stating: “Do it like Scotty would do. Do it in his honor. Do it for his family, and more importantly, do it with a smile as he always did.”

Shortly after the fatal fire, SAFD released a T-shirt fundraiser to celebrate Deem’s commitment to the first-responder brotherhood and support his family.

"We have a San Antonio Fire Department Crossfit program, and he was always participating in that,” SAFD spokesman Woody Woodward said.

“Some folks who used to work out with him thought about doing a T-shirt for what they call "The workout of the day, or WOD." So we kind of took that one step further and decided to offer a shirt to the general public,” Woodward said.

The shirt can be purchased by clicking here.

“SAFDEEM” along with “He was the best of us. FINAL ALARM 18 MAY 17” is seen on the front of the shirt, and the back features crosses axes and the initials SD.
