SAN ANTONIO – It was all smiles at the Salvation Army on Monday.

Those staying at the shelter and members of the community were treated to a day of pampering from the University of Cosmetology.

"One of the things we like to talk to the community about is that it is the simple things that make a huge difference in our client's live," program manager Roxanne Coronado said.

Venna Anderson is a recovering addict and looking to better herself. The services provided gave her the hope and motivation to get a new job, she said.

"It gives me confidences because I feel good, I know I look good, and sometimes that's what we need," Anderson said.

The partnership between the University of Cosmetology and the Salvation Army is one that will continue, organizers said.

The next time free services will be available is for back-to-school haircuts.
